Upbeat 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' TV Spot Cranks Up the Bowie
Marvel/Disney
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which has scored impressively well with test audiences so far (although that only tells us so much), has been keeping up a steady supply of new teasers and trailers without spoiling too much of the plot. And the new TV spot similarly shows us some new stuff without giving much away, while proudly adding David Bowie's "Suffragette City" to their ever-expanding '70s mixtape.

Fortunately with TV spots, nowadays you don't even need a TV to see them, because Marvel uploads them directly to YouTube:

Beyond that they're going to "save the galaxy twice," which everyone already guessed, we don't learn too much about the story. But on the other hand, we see doors getting kicked down, people falling off cliffs, Baby Groot running like a maniac, and Gamora (Zoe Saldana) shooting a very, very large blaster.

Perhaps most intense of all is a harshly slapstick shot of new character Mantis (Pom Klementieff) getting slammed by a piece of debris while the gang watches. Oddly, said gang also includes Nebula (Karen Gillan), who seems to be wearing Ravagers clothing like Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and Yondu (Michael Rooker). Nebula didn't get too much to do in the last film and was mostly just there to be Thanos' henchman, so a new allegiance would be an interesting turn for her character. Especially since Thanos won't be in the film.

And beyond the tentacled alien monster that Drax (Dave Bautista) charges into, we don't see any villains like Elizabeth Debicki's gold-skinned character, who appeared in the Super Bowl commercial and earlier in some toy lines. But someone has to be shooting at them, because they're certainly shooting back.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 comes out May 5, 2017.
