The Klingons are undoubtedly the most iconic villains in Star Trek history, but the brown-skinned, wrinkle-faced aliens may be getting a whole new look for the new series Star Trek: Discovery - one that fans are unlikely to recognize.

In a set photo from the series taken by an extra and shared to social media (it's since been deleted), a group of villainous aliens are depicted that the photographer claims are Star Trek's most famous baddies. If that's the case, they're unlike any Klingons we've seen before. While the Skyrim-esque armor looks pretty cool (and which was briefly shown in the teaser), the rest of their appearance is off.

They don't have any hair, their heads are conical, their skin appears grayish, and their ridges run all the way down the back of their head giving them an almost reptilian appearance. In other words, don't look that much like Klingons:

While longtime fans may be put off by this new look if these creatures are indeed Klingons, we're willing to give them a chance. After all, they look cool and menacing, and isn't that what we should want from our Star Trek villains? Besides, if you really miss the old Klingons, you can always go back and watch old episodes of The Next Generation.

Star Trek: Discovery began production last month and is expected to premiere either this fall or early next year after having its initial premiere date of May 2017 pushed back.
