Samuel L. Jackson Explains Which Movies Nick Fury Will Appear In Next
Marvel/Disney
With Marvel Studios releasing at least two films per year (2017 is the first year with three MCU films), it's notable that S.H.I.E.L.D. mastermind Nick Fury hasn't appeared since Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015. And it may be a little longer until he pops up again, according to actor Samuel L. Jackson.

In an interview with We Got This Covered that was mostly about Kong: Skull Island, Jackson also talked about where Nick Fury will be, won't be, and where he'll hopefully be over the next few years. You can expect to see him in Avengers: Infinity War and its untitled sequel from the sound of it, and he revealed that Fury will "maybe" appear in Captain Marvel, which is as close to a "yes" as we'll get before an official announcement.

But he won't appear in Black Panther next February, something Jackson found disappointing. Here's the full quote, which he begins by addressing a question about a potential Nick Fury movie:
Opening quote
Yeah, I'd love to do a Nick Fury movie. I'm always open and game. But they got Infinity Wars, two movies to do there, and after that there's Brie [Larson's] movie Captain Marvel, which maybe [Nick] will be part of. Also, I asked them, "So you're doing Black Panther and the only black character in the Marvel Universe is not showing up?" And they're like, "Nick Fury is not in Wakanda!" How can he not know the other black superhero on the planet? How the hell does that work? But they just said, "No you're not in that one."
Closing quote

So with no Black Panther appearance, more Nick Fury is still over a year away, although it's good to get some confirmation that he's still around. You would think a Nick Fury movie is long overdue by this point. Fury's post-credits scene in Iron Man is what kicked off the Avengers franchise in the first place, and both Jackson and Nick Fury are big enough names. Marvel Studios is booked solid through at least 2019 on films, although it didn't stop them from fitting in Spider-Man: Homecoming and its sequel when the deal with Sony Pictures was made.

In the meantime, Avengers: Infinity War comes out May 4, 2018.
