‘Deadpool 2’ Adds 'Daredevil's' Drew Goddard to the Writing Team
20th Century Fox
Fox has been keeping the Deadpool sequel under wraps since the success of the first film, with rumors spreading everywhere anyways. But some official news that just broke is the addition of Drew Goddard to the writing team as a script consultant.

You might remember Goddard from his little known, Oscar-nominated screenplay for The Martian, or his involvement in World War Z, Cloverfield and The Cabin in the Woods. Goddard is also the creator of Netflix's Daredevil series, giving him some experience with Marvel heroes, even if it's a more serious one.

Still, Goddard isn't replacing the previous team that got Deadpool nominated for Golden Globes and other major awards. Star Ryan Reynolds assured fans on Wednesday that
Deadpool writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, are still a major part of the film.

After surprising fans and critics with its departure from the standard superhero formulas, Fox has been slow to move along with future Deadpool installments. While some superhero films have released premiere dates before finishing scripts, it seems the Deadpool crew wants to get it right. This doesn't come as a huge surprise, since Ryan Reynolds was advocating for the first installment for years and seems like he would want to do the story justice.

The only detail we know for sure is that David Leitch (co-director of John Wick) is replacing director Tim Miller for the second film. After the screenplay is finished, we can patiently look forward to casting announcements for characters like Domino and Cable.
