Final 'Kong: Skull Island' Trailer Shows More Monsters and More Humor
Warner Bros.
"An uncharted island. Let me list all the ways you're gonna die," is how Tom Hiddleston opens up the final trailer for Kong: Skull Island, right before accepting a large payment from John Goodman and Corey Hawkins to visit this island anyway. And while he ends up being right about several things, this is still the most fun trailer Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment have released for the new King Kong movie.

Front and center are all the monsters, including the "skullcrawlers," a giant spider, a sea monster, and a giant swamp yak. And Kong himself, who reigns supreme over all the other beasts, swamp yak included. The skullcrawlers don't actually crawl in skulls, as noted by John C. Reilly's character, since he only uses that name because it sounds neat. While it's too early to judge the other actors, it's already clear that Reilly is perfectly cast as the lovable weirdo.

Beyond Reilly, there aren't too many humor scenes, just action shots of the gang running away and Kong wrecking things. And yet, and it seems more fun than the previous trailers. There's something about watching Kong punch helicopters out of the sky set to The Animals' 1965 blues song, "We Gotta Get Out of This Place," that changes a tone a little.

Either way, it's an entertaining tone that addresses any worries that this may be the type of serious, dour blockbuster we're seeing everywhere. Also worth noting is that Kong seems to be enormous in this new movie, more so than the giant gorilla's numerous other films since 1933. Of course, since we know he'll be fighting Godzilla in a crossover film not too far from now, it makes sense to bulk him up for a fair fight.

Beyond Hiddleston and the other names listed above, Samuel L. Jackson and Brie Larson will also star. Kong: Skull Island comes out March 10, 2017.
