Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is drawing nearer to release, and Marvel has delivered a brand new trailer. While some parts of the trailer, such as a few action set pieces, don't give away much more than we'd already seen in previous videos, there's a lot of new footage on display, which focuses on some of the new additions to the roster of heroes. Check it out below!

Two characters who had minor roles in the original Guardians are back: Yondu and Nebula. Both characters were antagonists the last time around, but will be joining the crew of the Milano in this new movie, possibly against their will (in at least one case).

We also get a good look at Star Lord's father, played by Kurt Russell. It's been confirmed that he'll be playing a human avatar for Ego the Living Planet, a character from the comics who is as overblown and bizarre as you might expect from his name. Russell's character appears to be connected somehow to Mantis, the final new addition to the team. She's notably absent from this trailer, which suggests that director James Gunn is hoping to keep most details surrounding her role a secret for a little longer.

This trailer, as with the previous movie, is filled with nostalgic throwbacks to eighties science fiction. At one point, Star Lord can be seen holding an old video game toy from Earth, which he appears to be using to track a space monster. All in all, it looks as if Guardians Vol. 2 will be a strong follow-up that keeps the heart and humor of the first.
