Original Pink Ranger Gives Surprise Interview to the New 'Power Rangers'
As more and more Power Rangers trailers are released, it's becoming clear how much the movie owes to the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers back in 1993. To the point that when the very first Pink Ranger (in the U.S. version), Amy Jo Johnson, walks into a room with the new cast, everybody's thrilled to see her.

During a press junket in Toronto, Johnson decided to sneak inside for a chance to speak with Naomi Scott, Ludi Lin, and Dacre Montgomery (the new Pink, Back, and Red Rangers respectively). She probably didn't need to sneak in, but she clearly had fun doing so, initially posing as a reporter for the local Daily Hive. The disguise doesn't last long anyway; Lin immediately recognizes her and Scott gives a delighted shout.

Here's the full interview:

Whether not she was really there as a professional journalist, she interview them anyway, going into what the Rangers represent for kids and teenagers, and what sort of powers the new Power Rangers have. Johnson claims that despite the acrobatic martial arts, the old crew didn't get nearly as many cool abilities, with mostly just the Zords to ride around in. The new actors assure her otherwise, and they pose for a sweet photo together.

It's good to see that the new cast is on such good terms with the old, which gels with the general sense we've gotten so far: any fans of the original show should be excited for the movie, and anyone who thought the show was cheesy should expect more of the same. But Power Rangers has always been about cheese, so there's no reason the film should want to be different.

Along with Scott, Lin and Montgomery, the film will also star Becky G, RJ Cyler, Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Banks, and Bill Hader as Alpha 5. Power Rangers comes out March 24, 2017.
