"Every great moment in our history began with a dream."

BioWare has officially released the first 13 minutes of gameplay from Mass Effect: Andromeda, which focuses on space colonization and exploring the wonders of new worlds. Though nothing too major is revealed in IGN's 13-minute preview, it does set the stage for what looks to be another epic adventure. The game, which is more of a spinoff episode than a sequel to the other Mass Effect games, follows a group of colonists who have left the Milky Way Galaxy prior to the events shown in previous titles. After being placed in cryosleep for over 600 years, this new group awakes in the Andromeda galaxy in search of a new home. Check it out!

The trailer shows some of the basics of gameplay, which are pretty similar to the other Mass Effect games, though with some added tweaks. Foremost among them is that the dialogue options now include further nuances—as opposed to the tried-and-true Paragon/Rogue options, now it seems like players can take more measured and subtle dialogue selections in some cases, from Logical and Emotional to Casual or Professional. These new branches should yield more interesting ways to talk, threaten, and persuade aliens and allies.

Overall, the gameplay looks like it should fall in the comfort zone of most Mass Effect veterans, and the opening video does a pretty good job of thrusting the player right into the action. Though, if we're being honest, it does seem kind of cold for the protagonist to just leave his sister's cryo tube at the first sign of trouble...

Mass Effect: Andromeda hits stores on March 21st.
