'The Flash' and 'Supergirl' Release Images from the Musical Crossover Episode
The CW
They may be old fashioned, but musicals are all the rage these days. There's La La Land, Beauty and the Beast, The Flash... wait, what? If you haven't heard, the Flash and Supergirl are indeed teaming up for a two-part, musical crossover later this month, and the two shows have just released the first promo material for it.

The premise of the crossover, which begins March 20 at the end of Supergirl and continues March 21 with an episode of The Flash called "Duet," sees both Kara and Barry knocked into a strange coma by the Music Meister (played by Glee alum Darren Criss), causing them both to wake up in an alternate reality where life is a musical. And if you think that sounds weird, just look at the pictures, released through EW:

And in case you need more of this glamours, '40s-esque musical superhero world, here's a very brief teaser for The Flash.

It's hard to tell how this is going to turn out, but kudos to the producers for taking the shows in unexpected directions. And it makes sense since so much of the cast has singing experience; stars Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist have also appeared on Glee alongside Criss. Maybe if it's a success, we'll end up getting a full movie musical in the DCEU - it's wishful thinking, but it can't be any worse than Batman v Superman.

The Flash episode "Duet" airs March 21, 2017 on the CW.
