'Star Wars: Rebels' Announces Its Final Season and a New Trailer
Disney XD
The crew of the Ghost may be going on their final mission this year: during an otherwise upbeat panel at this year's Star Wars Celebration in Florida, it was announced that Star Wars: Rebels will be ending this year after its fourth season.

Things didn't end so well for the Rebels in the season 3 finale, and there's still Grand Admiral Thrawn to deal with, but that plot line and every other one following Ezra, Sabine and the rest should be resolving soon (now that they have to). Still, the Rebels panel also unveiled some goods news for fans of the show - by revealing the official trailer for season 4, which is pulling a Game of Thrones by shortening its final season from 22 episodes down to 15:

Narrated by Twi'lek captain Hera, not too much is revealed here beyond the decidedly darker tone present. And sure enough, executive producer Dave Filoni confirmed that this show will have a "Rogue One aesthetic." Besides including Rogue One characters like Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker will once again voice the character), that could also be very bad news for the heroes if you remember just how Rogue One ended. We'll see soon.

But Filoni is proud of the show they've put together, reflecting on how they've managed to build a Star Wars franchise for a new generation:
Opening quote
"I firmly believe that each generation needs to have their own piece of 'Star Wars' and this show, for a lot of kids growing up with it, is as much a piece of 'Star Wars' as any of the movies."
Closing quote

Star Wars: Rebels returns one last time this Fall 2017 on Disney XD.
