When we heard that the new Han Solo spinoff movie was going to be a cross between a Western and a heist film, we cocked an eyebrow, leaned forward, and said "Go on..." Then we heard that it would be complex, smart, dramatic, funny, and unexpected, something that would defy all expectations, which is exactly what we want at this point. There's a lot riding on this movie, not least because it'll be the first to star Alden Ehrenreich as a brand-new Han Solo. Everyone at Lucasfilm is eager to get this right, and to prove that recasting key Star Wars characters will work. From the looks of things, the movie is in good hands.

Case in point: a new video, featuring directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, has come out, providing exclusive behind-the-scenes images from the set of the Han Solo movie. While most of these are hilarious misdirection, stay tuned for just before the two-minute mark, when the pair reveal a new alien, all the while pretending to avoid spoilers like the plague.

This alien seems like it'll probably be one of the many background characters that frequent the taverns and bars that Han Solo spends his time in while traveling the galaxy being a scoundrel. What's more important is the tone of the video, and the fact that it doesn't take itself too seriously while simultaneously paying homage to the Star Wars franchise as a whole. This video shows that the movie's directors are bringing their trademark sense of humor to the table, creating a film that will hopefully provide an irreverent, adventurous antidote to the hyper-serious tone of Rogue One.

Miller and Lord are best known for their work on The Lego Movie, a film in which they took an existing pop culture staple with a passionate fanbase and made a movie that was filled with in-jokes and references for longtime fans and plenty of appeal for casual moviegoers. It's clear that Lucasfilm is hoping that the pair will deliver a similar experience with Han Solo, and from the looks of it, Lord and Miller are rising to the occasion. This looks like a very different Star Wars movie, and perhaps the best chance we have of getting a galactic adventure that's free from all the heavy politics and epic battles between good and evil that's weighed down previous installments (cough, cough, Attack of the Clones).

Essentially, it'll be two hours of Han Solo smirking and trying to seduce Daenerys from Game of Thrones. What's not to love?
