Ever since Covenant was announced, Ridley Scott has said he isn't done with all the questions raised by Prometheus. His commitment to that weird tangled mess made us nervous from the outset, because sometimes directors don't know when to stop digging (looking at you, Predator 2). By the time Covenant started releasing trailers, the whole concept of bringing back the plotlines of Prometheus seemed like a distant threat—maybe the crew of the Covenant would find the wreckage of the Engineer ship David escaped on, and we'd just have a passing nod to what came before.

The new 'prologue' video, however, throws all that out the window by bridging the gap between the two movies and showing just where David ended up:

Yeah, that appears to be a fully developed Engineer civilization, complete with a giant, monolithic scorpion-tail ship. The implication here seems to be that David acts as a harbinger of humanity/Weyland-Yutani and connects with the Engineers, but if the planet shown is the same one the crew of the Covenant lands on, it's all going to go terribly, terribly wrong.

We'd hoped Covenant would move away from the worldbuilding Prometheus tried to bring to the series to focus on the bread and butter: humans vs. xenomorphs. Everything seemed to point to that, anyway. But it looks like Prometheus is coming back with a vengeance, and suddenly, this looks like a different movie than the one advertised.
