Latest 'Twin Peaks' Teaser is a Silent Tour of the Mysterious Town
Showtime
We've learned by now not to expect Twin Peaks teasers to answer many questions - especially when the show hardly ever does that - so we usually just watch them for the atmosphere or the characters.

In this case it's just the atmosphere, because the latest teaser is especially deserted. We're treated to a brief glance of some of the show's iconic locations, from the Twin Peaks sheriff's department to its diner to its interdimensional and vaguely demonic Black Lodge. You know, normal small town fare.

And it's all deathly quiet, with only some background static and the sound of slides clicking as if these were FBI photos:

David Lynch and Showtime have been very careful not to reveal much about the show's upcoming third season (or the "18-hour limited event series" according to the YouTube channel), which is coming back after the show's cancellation in 1991 and its movie, Fire Walk With Me, the year after. We know most of the main cast is returning, including Kyle McLachlan as Agent Dale Cooper and sadly not Michael Ontkean as Sheriff Truman (Ontkean is retired from acting).

Other than the cast, we really don't know much. If you need a refresher on the demonic murder mystery that was Twin Peaks, they recently put out a two minute refresher that covers everything from the discovery of Laura Palmer's body to Cooper's final scene after "escaping" the Black Lodge. How much of the previous plot is important to the upcoming episodes is again, unknown. But that's part of the fun of Twin Peaks.

Twin Peaks returns May 21, 2017 on Showtime.
