'Twin Peaks' Teaser Shows Some Old Faces 25 Years Later
Showtime
As far as teasers for the upcoming revival of Twin Peaks go, this is probably one of the most in-depth we've gotten so far. It's still vague and mysterious in typical Twin Peaks fashion, but this one actually shows us some of the characters. And how they've aged, a lot.

In around 30 seconds, we see shots of "Big Ed" Hurley, Carl Rodd (who appeared in the Fire Walk With Me movie), Laura Palmer's unstable mother Sarah, lovable police deputy Andy Brennan, his fellow deputy "Hawk" Hill, and of course, Special Agent Dale Cooper (played by Kyle McLachlan). Only Hawk gets any lines of dialogue, and it's not so much a line of dialogue so much as it's a word of dialogue.

But judging by Cooper's reaction, it's clearly important. Here's the full video:

Waiting for Twin Peaks has been a slow burn, and the marketing certainly hasn't helped - although that's undoubtedly intentional on the part of Showtime and series creator David Lynch. We've gotten clips of everything from Black Lodge photos to word puzzles to Lynch eating a donut (in character as Gordon), so some footage of other returning cast members is a nice step up from that.

And the characters shown are some interesting choices. Ending with the detective team of Cooper, Hawk, and Andy makes sense, since they were all popular characters who were first on the scene when any weirdness went down. But including smaller characters like Sarah Palmer and movie-only characters like Carl might imply that they're getting larger roles this time around.

That also means the new episodes will tie into Fire Walk With Me, not that it's required viewing considering it hardly answered any questions from the show. But that's Twin Peaks for you.

Twin Peaks returns May 21, 2017 on Showtime.
