'Blade Runner 2049' Releases Twin Posters and Some New Footage
Warner Bros.
It's been a few months since we've seen anything new from Blade Runner 2049, the sequel to the classic 1982 sci-fi noir movie. The last trailer was back in December, and while we should be getting another one next week, Warner Bros. has started releasing a ton of new material from the grimy world of Blade Runner.

The first of which are a pair of contrasting posters featuring the two stars, one set in the oppressive grays that defined the first movie, the other set in the harsh orange location that appeared in the trailer. One features Ryan Gosling as LAPD Officer K, a new blade runner who pops his collar just a little too high, while the other shows a casually dressed Harrison Ford back in his old role of possible replicant Rick Deckard:

That orange-lit setting, despite the giant freaky head in the background, still comes off as very non-Blade Runner even with Deckard right in the middle of it. From the announcement trailer, it seems like this is where Deckard has been hiding since the original movie, leading Gosling's K to come searching for him. But there were plenty of neon-lit cities too, and K's poster still captures the Blade Runner feel pretty well.

There's also some new footage that just came out, and despite more switching between gray and orange, it looks like a cyberpunk thriller and that's all this movie really needs to be.

Blade Runner 2049, directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, the upcoming Dune remake), is scheduled to come out October 6, 2017.
