'The Mist' Trailer Is an Insanely Gory Look at Stephen King's TV Show
Spike TV
Frank Darabont's 2007 film The Mist is perhaps one of the best Stephen King movies out there (with some tough competition), and we'd be lying if we said we weren't looking forward to the new show adaptation on Spike TV. Especially after viewing the very, very bloody new trailer.

The sci-fi series promises to tell the stories of several people whose town is enveloped by an unnatural mist that contains some sort of monstrous creatures, and from the looks of this latest trailer, those creatures are even more bloodthirsty than the ones in the movie. The teaser manages to avoid giving away too much of the story, preferring to contain several graphic shots of the the mist's victims rather than just the monsters within it.

And while the series' first trailer focused more on the unknown and feelings of isolation and mistrust - themes that look to be at the forefront of the show - the new one focuses more on horrific spectacle, and it definitely doesn't disappoint. Check it out below.

Yowza. The new trailer has a lot to unpack, but probably the main takeaway is this: The series looks like it could be legitimately scary. There are elements of body horror, gory '80s slasher flicks, and creature features all rolled up together in one insane package, which could either make for an awesome horror show or a total mess. Production values look high, though, and the acting and atmosphere in these first (albeit brief) looks have been impressive, so we're cautiously optimistic that Spike TV, of all networks, could have a winner on their hands.

The Mist begins its 10-episode run on June 22, 2017.
