By this point in comic book movies, surely there's nobody who stands up and leaves before the end of the credits.

Hell, the post-credits stinger has become the most important part of the entire movie—it provides a preview of what's to come in the future of the franchise. Films like X-Men: Apocalypse had viewers frantically Googling the Essex Corp after the credits in order to find out what was planned for Logan, and those two movies weren't even set in the same continuity.

With the post-credits scene being so important, it's no surprise that we're already hearing rumors about what we'll be getting in Deadpool 2. According to Comicbook.com, Fox is currently casting a trio of actors for the characters Sunspot, Feral, and Shatterstar, who are expected to show up in the future X-Force movies. While these are hardly big names in the X-Men world, it's interesting to see Fox so eager to start throwing new characters at the Deadpoolverse. The original Deadpool seems to exist in its own, separate canon to the main X-Men series, and since Sunspot appears in Days of Future Past, it looks like the studio is in no hurry to connect Deadpool to any film starring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

With New Mutants taking a more magical direction and Dark Phoenix currently in development with the same actors from Apocalypse, it looks increasingly like Fox is going to try running three separate movie worlds simultaneously in order to see what works best. This isn't the worst plan in the world, especially since each movie series has a very different intended audience: Deadpool sequels and X-Force will be aimed at the R-rated, grown-up comic book fan, while New Mutants will be targeted at young adults and fans of The Hunger Games. Finally, the continuation of Bryan Singer's main series of movies will be a catch-all, PG-13 series designed for anyone of any age who wants to see comic book heroes shooting lasers at each other.

We can live in a world like that.

Deadpool 2 will hit US theaters on June 1st, 2018.
