While Mike Colter's been busy playing Luke Cage in other shows besides the one he's starring in - first Jessica Jones and soon The Defenders - Marvel's Luke Cage isn't going anywhere, and a season 2 is basically assured based on how successful the show was.

And it should include some familiar faces, particularly ones with sunglasses on them. Actor Theo Rossi, who played Hernan "Shades" Alvarez in the first season, recently spoke with Parade about his upcoming movie Lowriders. Toward the end, some questions about his roles on Sons of Anarchy and Luke Cage came up, and he mentioned that he'd be back when the Marvel show returns: "Luke Cage is going down, [we're in] season two. We're pretty excited, it'll be nice to get back into the swing."

He also had nothing but praise for Luke Cage and the people he worked with, especially since he got to return to his hometown of New York:

Opening quote
"I honestly couldn't ask to be in a better situation with the caliber of people I'm around. Walking on the streets that I skateboarded in and ran around doing graffiti in, it's a pretty incredible feeling. There's a memory on every street, on every block, and I get to be close to my family. It's all perfect."
Closing quote

Not that Shades did much beyond stand around and question his bosses, but he should be fun to see back. He certainly wasn't the coolest villain in season 1, but unless they somehow resurrect Mahershala Ali's Cottonmouth, then we won't be getting the coolest villain from season 1. But who knows - it looks like Elektra is going to be slightly less dead in The Defenders, so maybe the Hand could use those powers on Cottonmouth if Netflix and Marvel decide Luke Cage should fight more ninjas.

That's unlikely, of course, but it's wishful thinking.

There's no current release date for Luke Cage season 2, but he'll be co-starring in The Defenders when it comes out August 18, 2017.
