'Rick and Morty' Get Attacked by Facehuggers to Promote 'Alien: Covenant'
Adult Swim
After about a year and a half of no new episodes of the hit Adult Swim show, this is slowly turning into the spring (and soon to be summer) of Rick and Morty. While the first episode of season 3 premiered on April 1, hopefully they won't be thrown to the xenomorphs before it continues.

In a bizarre cross-promotion that Adult Swim was honest enough to brand as [sponsored content], they've posted an official clip of the deeply dysfunctional duo answering a distress call (begrudgingly, of course) at an abandoned off-brand Weyland-Yutani ship. It's immediately reminiscent of H.R. Giger's old set pieces and if you've seen any Alien movies, or even the Alien: Covenant trailer, then you know what happens next:

Seeing as Alien: Covenant comes out next week, it's certainly timely in that regard, but since there's no official release date for more Rick and Morty episodes, it's an interesting choice to drop them into this. Of course, Rick and Morty is Adult Swim's hottest commodity right now, and excitement about both the show and McDonald's Szechaun sauce exploded with the season 3 premiere.

If Adult Swim willing to send a Rick-shaped truck on a road trip around the United States, combining them with Ridley Scott's Alien franchise doesn't seem so bizarre anymore. Whether or not Alien: Covenant will be schwifty enough on its end of this crossover is another question, one we'll learn the answer to when it hits theaters later this week.

Alien: Covenant comes out May 19, 2017, while Rick and Morty season 3 should hopefully continue this summer.
