Today, we learned that grass still grows, birds continue to fly, and the DCEU is once again experiencing potentially catastrophic issues with its new superhero movie. More specifically, a source close to the production claims that Warner Bros. has already ordered two major rounds of reshoots and revisions to the film, essentially "remaking" the whole movie twice over, with even more reshoots on the way. According to the source, Warner Bros. is putting everything they have behind re-tooling the movie in time for its release.

All of this should add up to one distinct feeling:

The sci-fi movie business, especially on the comic book side, is plagued by rumors of all kinds (like the one that Deadpool's end credits would reveal the new X-Force), but as far as veracity, Splashreport's little disclaimer at the beginning of their article sums up how reliable this source is:

Opening quote
This is the same person that informed us of how extensive the reshoots for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story ended up being- which we broke when we worked elsewhere, and this person is so intimately connected to the Justice League production that they told us about Ben Affleck's visit to rehab weeks before the star publicly acknowledged his personal struggles.
Closing quote

Ever since Suicide Squad's infamous last-minute reshoots produced what amounted to a dangerously unstable Jenga tower of a movie, 'reshoots' has entered the common vocabulary of movie fans as a synonym for desperation measures. That's not entirely fair, since reshoots are often an expected part of the Hollywood filmmaking process, but when you end up with a half-dozen versions of the same film (in Suicide Squad's case), it's a sign that things have gone off the rails. Considering that this is the same DC that created Batman vs. Superman (which actually made even less money than Suicide Squad) and the increasingly worrying Wonder Woman, it sounds like this is the case with Justice League's reshoots.

At this point, all we can do is shrug. The DCEU has been a trainwreck almost from the beginning, and the extremely tight turnaround time for these movies means course corrections are a nightmare to pull off. It's not surprising anymore, but it is disheartening, and all the White Stripes soundtracks in the world can't make it better.

Justice League hits US theaters on November 17th, 2017.
