'Wonder Woman' Brings Down Her Sword in Two New Fight Scenes
Warner Bros.
Despite concerns that Wonder Woman would suffer from the same problems as other DC films, initial responses have been very positive, even if full reviews are embargoed until the movie comes out in June. And based on some recently released clips from the film, the action scenes alone seem miles above other DCEU fare.

The first one was released by IGN, showing the full scene that we saw small parts of in the trailers. Proving that you can bring a knife to a gunfight, or at least a sword, Wonder Woman faces off against Danny Huston's evil General Eric Ludendorff. He holds his own against the Amazonian at first, suggesting he may have some special abilities - although he's just one person on a list of names in the "Who's playing Ares?" discussion.

It's a strong scene. The two biggest faux pas in movie fights are shaky cameras and constant jump cuts, both of which are lazy attempts to conceal the fact that the actors aren't really trying to kill each other on set. Here, the camera is sturdy and not shaking around, and it stays in one place long enough for us to see what's actually happening. It's no Daredevil-style long take, but it's enough to follow the action, and that's what matters.

And released separately, Buzzfeed also got their hands on a different fight scene from earlier in the movie, and again, it's one that already appeared in small bits and pieces during the trailers. And it's also a strong scene in its own right, showcasing Robin Wright as General Antiope, Diana's loving aunt and murderous drill sergeant.

Wonder Woman comes to theaters on June 2, 2017.
