'Game of Thrones' Season 7 Trailer Brings a Great War to the Seven Kingdoms
HBO
"The Great War is here," says Jon Snow (Kit Harrington), the new King in the North and the "last son" of Ned Stark, at least until Bran shows up in Winterfell to break the big news to him. But regardless, the new trailer for Game of Thrones season 7 is also here, and it's a good one.

We'll save the analysis for afterward, so check out the trailer below:

Expect things to be moving faster this season, as this Great War is shaping up to be the climax of the show's entire storyline. Now that the Boltons have been cleared out of Winterfell, and the Sparrows blown out of King's Landing, there are only four factions now - the Starks, the Lannisters, the Targaryens, and a large undead army lead by White Walkers which everyone but Jon is woefully unaware of.

"If we don't put aside our enmities and ban together, we will die," says Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham) about said White Walkers, "and then it doesn't matter whose skeleton sits on the Iron Throne." It's absolutely amazing that Ser Davos has survived this long, as the most level head in the room tends to be killed off first. Here's hoping his luck continues, although his chances will only get slimmer.

But the undead army aside, we also see Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) finally set foot in the Seven Kingdoms after six whole seasons of swearing she'll get around to it. On her side are the Unsullied army, the Martells, a faction of Greyjoys, Tyrion (Peter Dinklage), and three dragons who've grown to an enormous scale. It's much larger than the remains of Jon Snow's northern army, which might fracture even further as Littlefinger and Sansa (Sophie Turner) continue their scheming.

But whether it's enough to claim the North or anywhere else in Westeros - which you get a good look at in the cool map Queen Cersei (Lena Headey) is standing on - remains to be seen. It's now Cersei's home turf and she's got a large force of her own, which should go unchallenged now that she's burned up all her biggest rivals. Place your bets now on the winner, and we'll see in just a few months.
