'American Gods' Clip Shows Gillian Anderson Doing a David Bowie Impression
Starz
American Gods, as you'll know if you seen it, is a wonderfully bizarre show where the opening alone contains crucified astronauts and BDSM centaurs. So for Starz to promote their show with a video of Media (Gillian Anderson) pretending she's David Bowie shouldn't be that surprising.

Anderson, most well-known as Agent Dana Scully on The X-Files, has been having a blast in her role of Media, the new god of television who gains power as people sit in front of the TV for hours and "worship" it. She often takes the form of celebrities like Lucille Ball of I Love Lucy, and Ziggy Stardust is apparently her newest manifestation (some mild spoilers ahead for previous episodes):

For anyone who's completely lost, American Gods is a show about an ex-con named Shadow (Ricky Whittle) who gets caught up in a war between the mythological Old Gods and the modern, evil New Gods. The video takes place in a limo belonging to the Technical Boy, the hipster-like new god of the internet, where Media shows up as Major Tom to deliver a message from the head New God and main villain, Mr. World (Crispin Glover).

Here's a full image of Anderson playing Bowie, and she nails it amazingly enough that you might be forgiven if you mistook her for the real Thin White Duke. But nope, that's just Agent Scully in full makeup, with more swagger:

And here's a look at Mr. World, by the way, who's suitably threatening toward the primary old god Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane):

The next episode of American Gods, "Lemon Scented You," airs May 28, 2017 on Starz.
