Early 'Wonder Woman' Reviews Outshine Previous DC Movies
Warner Bros.
To put it mildly, there's a lot riding on Wonder Woman. Not only is it the character's first solo film after over 75 years on the page, but it's also likely the film that's going to make or break the DCEU. After swinging and missing three times already with Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and Suicide Squadit's now up to Wonder Woman to right the ship and get the franchise back into a position where it might actually be able to compete with Marvel.

And we're happy to report that it looks like they've done it. The first reviews are now hitting the web for Wonder Woman, and they're way better than anyone expected. In fact, it's one of the best-reviewed films of 2017. As of this writing, the movie is starting with a whopping 97 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes after nearly 70 reviews. Obviously that's likely to drop, as probably 100 or so more reviews will likely roll in once the film opens on June 2, but it's still insanely impressive.

But for the sake of argument, let's say the movie holds onto its 97 percent rating. That would make it not only the best-reviewed film in the DCEU, easily besting current champ Man of Steel's rotten 55 percent, but also the best-reviewed superhero movie of all time. Currently, there's a three-way tie for first place between The Dark Knight, Iron Man, and Spider-Man 2, all of which boast 94 percent ratings, and the first female superhero movie has a shot at taking on all of them.

The movie's social media team has been loving all the good press coming its way:

The movie has been called DC's best film in many reviews, while others compared it to Indiana Jones and even praised the villain - an extreme rarity in modern superhero films. The film is also lauded for being decidedly less grim than the previous dark and dreary DCEU installments, something that fans have been begging for and that hopefully signals a change in direction for the future (looking at you, Justice League).

Whether you're a big fan of Wonder Woman or not, all DC fans - nay, all comic book fans - should be rejoicing that her movie is having such a strong opening. It's going to lift the entire industry, especially the DCEU, and along with Logan and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 shows that superhero movies aren't going away anytime soon. They're just getting better.
