'Star Wars' Compilation Shows 40 Years of Its Impact on Pop Culture
Lucasfilm
You surely know Star Wars has long been the biggest franchise in movies, but it's sometimes hard to grasp just how big of an impact the series has had on pop culture since it first debuted 40 years ago.

To get a sense of just how big of an impression it's left, you really should watch this 95-minute video that culls together random bits of Star Wars-related footage of the past four decades from movies, TV shows, commercials, and more. The video, put together by Cinefamily in honor of the 40th anniversary, is both mesmerizing and totally bonkers. It pulls Star Wars content from all corners of media from all over the world, and it's hard to imagine anything they could have possibly left out.

Some of it is funny, some nostalgic, and a lot of it is weird as hell. Some examples of what you'll see include a clip of Donny and Marie giving a Star Wars-themed performance (appropriate given the creepy brother-sister relationship), a Halloween-themed clip from the Today Show with the hosts making cocktails and Ewoks drinking them, and a really bizarre clip from another country that appears to be a Star Wars ripoff that apparently mixed up their John Williams scores and uses the Indiana Jones theme song.

That's just a taste, and since there's no real way to fully explain the video while doing it any justice, you'll just have to check it out for yourself above. It's a great way to look back on Star Wars' 40th anniversary, and maybe the galaxy far, far away will stay in pop culture long enough for another weird compilation in another 40 years.
