Nobody could really accuse Game of Thrones Season Seven of having a slow start, but in spite of the already very brisk pace  (a natural result of attrition that's pared the cast down to the key players), it seems that things are about to get even more intense, as one of the biggest meetings of the series is about to take place. Promotional photos for the upcoming third episode of the season show Jon Snow and Davos Seaworth arriving by boat on a new shore, which appears to be none other than Dragonstone, the island that Daenerys is using as her base of operations in her push to gain power in Westeros.

Here are Jon and Davos arriving on the Dragonstone beach and standing in the throne room:

Then there's Daenerys, presumably in front of the pair:

The photos stop just short of showing us Jon and Danaerys meeting for the first time (the pictures are angled almost deliberately to keep the pair out of arm's reach, hinting at a possible fake-out), although leaked set photos have already given us a good look at one of their conversations in the upcoming season, which could well take place in the next episode. This is a meeting that the show has been building to for a while—the combining of ice and fire that everything in Game of Thrones has revolved around from the beginning.

The only question is whether this initial meeting will go well, or whether Jon and Daenerys will fail to see eye-to-eye. These are two characters that, one would assume, will be fairly eager to form a mutually beneficial alliance (unlike, say, Sansa Stark, who'll take a little more convincing). That said, things never go smoothly in Westeros, and at some point we know that a big northern battle is going to feature fire raining down from gigantic flying dragons, so the only question is which side Jon Snow is going to find himself on when things start (literally) heating up.

It's hard to imagine Daenerys siccing her soldiers on Jon and Davos during the upcoming episode, but the consequences of whatever happens with their meeting will probably unsettle the chances of the pair managing to recruit others to their cause. After all, if Westeros' history teaches us anything, it's that whenever one group becomes too powerful, everyone else in the region will be quick to point their arrows at their growing rival.

Game of Thrones Season Seven, Episode Three, titled "The Queen's Justice" will air on HBO on July 30th, 2017.
