Marvel Releases a 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Music Video Starring David Hasselhoff
Marvel Studios
You might remember a brief moment in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 where Ego (Kurt Russell) shape-shifts into David Hasselhoff while trying to impress his son, Peter Quill/Star-Lord. Later on, Hasselhoff also sang a disco-heavy original song called "Guardians' Inferno" for the movie.

There, now you have some context for what might be the silliest thing you see today. To promote GotG Vol. 2's upcoming digital release on August 8 (it won't come out on Blu-ray until a couple weeks later on August 22), Marvel Studios released a music video for that "Inferno" song, starring Mr. Knight Rider himself and much of the movie's cast, plus director James Gunn and a couple other surprises.

Although he's technically not "David Hasselhoff" in the video - he's referred to here as "Zardu Hasselfrau," thank you very much, and his supporting band is called "The Sneepers" (a deep cut reference from old Marvel comics). Check it out below:

It's weirder than what you'd typically expect from Marvel Studios (although they've made silly short films before), so if you're curious why the studio gave this the green light, you have James Gunn to thank. He's wanted to see the music video get made for a long time, perhaps as a final chance to party with the cast and Hasselhoff before they start filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Because a third movie's happening, but it won't be for a few more years, at least. Hasselhoff probably won't be back for it. Probably.

The song, co-written by Gunn and the movie's composer Tyler Bates, will appear with its music video as a bonus feature if you get it on digital/Blu-ray. So if you want to bring David "Zardu Hasselfrau" Hasselhoff and his Sneepers into your home, you'll have a chance to do so later this month.
