What Did You Miss At The Epic San Diego Comic Con 2013?

The dust is starting to settle on a crazy four days at San Diego's Comic Con and it really has been a whirlwind weekend. There were some huge announcements in the science fiction world, new footage was revealed for some of the most anticipated releases and there were even live on stage performances and recitals. Here are just a few of the highlights from an electric weekend...

Batman Will Appear In Man of Steel sequel

We'll start with arguably the most shocking news to come from this weekend's festivities. Man of Steel director Zack Snyder made a surprise appearance to break the news that Batman will be featuring in Snyder's sequel to this year's biggest superhero movie.

The news was broken to a stunned audience in spectacular fashion, with Snyder inviting Henry Lennix onto the stage to read a passage from Frank Miller's 1986 The Dark Knight Returns. Seconds after Lennix, who played General Swanwick in the first film, completes his speech, the Batman logo appeared on the screen, superimposed over Superman's.  Read by Lennix in dramatic fashion, the passage details a moment when Batman has tricked Superman with Kryptonite and proceeds to kick his ass.

This announcement leaves the door open for more Justice League and Christian Bale rumors than fans can handle, but many believe Bale will not be the one to play the Dark Knight, having previously mentioned he has moved on from the role. Rumors, drama, crowds screaming in awe, this was truly one of the great comic con moments.

- Marvel Blow Fans Away With Guardians of the GalaxyAvengers, Thor and more...

The 40 minute Marvel universe panel was absolutely crammed full with epic moments and hot off the press news. We discovered that the second Avengers movie will be titled Avengers 2: Age of Ultron with the sequel set to explore the creation of the robotic machine of mass destruction. Topping this announcement was the big revealing of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy concept art, which gave us our first look of the team containing Drax the Destroyer, Rocket Racoon and Gamora. Fans were even treated to a few snippets of footage from the movie that only started filming 10 days ago.Another big 'Guardians' reveal was Karen Gillan's new haircut for her role as nebula, gone are her wonderful red locks, replaced by....nothing!

Tom Hiddleston appeared at the panel, not as Tom Hiddleston, but as Loki, in full costume and character. Hiddleston gave raucous fans a live performace of Loki revealing his disdain for us puny humans. This act of thespian brilliance was accompanied by some new footage of Thor: The Dark World, which is released later this year.

- Harrison Ford Hogs Limelight at Ender's Game Panel

The upcoming Ender's Game adaptation has been getting a lot of attention in recent weeks. Not all of this attention is good, in fact much of it has centered on the row between the novel's author, Orson Scott Card and the gay rights movement, but on Friday at least, fans were able to focus on the movie itself. That was until Harrison Ford showed up and got everyone very, very excited. During the panel, new footage of Harrison Ford as Colonel Hyrum Graff was released and we got to see some epic shots of the film's dog fight's during Mazer Rackham's famous battle-ending run.

Doctor Who panel celebrates all things 'Whovian'

There was a stellar line-up assembled for the Doctor Who panel. Doctor's new and old, writers and even Craig Ferguson graced the stage as discussions focused around the 50th anniversary special which will see past favourites such as David Tennant and Billie Piper return to the show, albeit briefly.
