Zack Snyder Tells Fans Not To Panic Over Batman Vs Superman Continuity

Zack Snyder is a man under pressure right now. Fans have despaired at pretty much every move the director has made with Batman vs Superman, but in an interview with The LA Times Snyder pleads with fans to be patient, essentially asking them not to panic.

"We know the material," said Snyder. "Unfortunately the fans don't know the material. So we're casting according to what's happening in the scripts. And we're hoping that leads to enough originality, enough perspective on what we're doing that you get something fresh and exciting. I understand the canon. I'm not crazy. I know what these characters need from a mythological standpoint."

So the Man of Steel director is pleading for a touch of trust with his big 2016 sequel, but whether or not fans will give it to him is quite another matter. There was outrage when Ben Affleck was cast as Batman and bewilderment when Jesse Eisenberg was signed to play Lex Luthor. These are two iconic characters that are being reborn here, so we shouldn't be surprised by this dramatic fan reaction. Unfortunately for Snyder, Man of Steel was not a huge success, a fact that has him on the defensive right from the get go. Add to that the push-back of the movie's release date from 2015 to 2016 and fans are unsurprisingly on edge.

Despite the controversy that rages through the internet's forums and comment sections, there is still a huge hunger for this movie. One of the big reveals that fans are waiting for is what the new batsuit will look like, and Snyder seems pretty pumped about it too...

"We're getting ready to start shooting in a month or so," reveals Snyder. "It's going great. I'm very excited. We were just testing the suits, right? The new Batsuit and the Superman suit. It wasn't even with the actors right? It was just to see 'em. I was standing there, they were standing next to each other and I was like, 'Guys, someone take a picture! This has never happened before!'"

Batman vs Superman is set for a release date of May 6th 2016 and will star Ben Affleck as Superman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and feature Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.
