True Blood Star Cast as Love Interest in Upcoming Daredevil Series
True Blood's Deborah Ann Woll continues her ascent to sci-fi/fantasy queen status, as she has been cast opposite Boardwalk Empire's Charlie Cox as Karen Page, the primary love interest for Daredevil in the upcoming Marvel/Netflix series.
Woll previously received attention for her performance on the HBO series True Blood in which she plays Jessica Hamby, a sheltered, innocent Christian girl who is turned into a vampire. She will play Karen Page, who is the secretary at Matt Murdock's law firm. She is the longest running love interest for Daredevil in the comics and was played by Ellen Pompeo in the universally despised 2005 Ben Affleck film. In the comics, she is also a love interest for Murdock's law partner, Foggy Nelson, who will be played in the series by Elden Henson (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay).
The series was created by Drew Goddard (Lost, World War Z, Sinister Six), and will be one of four upcoming Marvel/Netflix shows, along with Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. The four superheroes will then team up for a Defenders miniseries.
