The Maze Runner, the first novel in a dystopian trilogy written by James Dashner, follows a young boy named Thomas who wakes up in a mysterious place called the Glade with no memories except for his name. There are a few dozen other boys in the Glade, none of whom have any memory of how they came to be there. The Glade is surrounded by an intricate maze which the boys have been attempting to solve for years, to no avail. To make matters worse, the maze is also surrounded by terrifying slug-like creatures called the Grievers.
The trilogy has drawn many comparisons to series such as The Hunger Games and Divergent, and as a result a sequel is already in development in anticipation of the film's predicted box office success. Dylan O'Brien will play the protagonist, Thomas, while Game of Thrones's Thomas Brodie-Sangster will play fellow Glader Newt, and Kaya Scoledario plays Teresa, the first girl to arrive at the Glade. The film was directed by Wes Ball, and co-written by Divergent's Noah Oppenheim.
In this video, we see limited new footage of the film, but the focus is definitely behind the scenes. The cast members introduce themselves and their characters, and go on to sing the praises of their co-workers. While the video doesn't tell us much about the plot of the film, the fact that the cast likes each other enough to have movie nights and call each other "family" is a good sign for their chemistry, which can make or break this kind of film. This was somewhat demonstrated by Divergent, in which the chemistry between the stars was thought by critics to have compensated for many of the movie's flaws.
