First Trailer for Prometheus: Fire and Stone Reveals Crossover with Predator

Combining franchises is all the rage these days, and comic books are no exception. The upcoming Prometheus comic, Fire and Stone, will not only explicitly acknowledge its Alien origins, but will also crossover with the Predator franchise. (Technically, it's a crossover between the Prometheus, Alien, Predator, and AVP universes, but that seems silly and redundant to say, since Prometheus was always conceived as taking place in the same universe as Alien.)

In the trailer, writer Paul Tobin says he's most excited for the "interconnecting links" between the franchises, as well as for the development of the "very complex characters." Writer Kelly Sue DeConnick, who will write the conclusion of the series, is similarly looking forward to the introduction of the formidable "Ripley" equivalent: Angela Foster. According to DeConnick, Foster will be "a driven, very capable leader. She's a very extraordinary woman." But Foster is also humanized by one major flaw: "an evangelism for the corporation."

The comic is directly related to the events of the Prometheus film, according to the official synopsis: "When the Prometheus never returned from her fateful journey to LV-223, the questions surrounding the origins of man went unanswered. Now a new team of explorers seeks to uncover the dark mystery that holds not only the fate of the original mission, but possibly their own damnation."

The art for the series seems to take inspiration from the dark, disquieting visuals of the films. The cover art in particular is beautiful and unsettling:

The art inside the book gets a little more cartoonish, but still looks somewhat intriguing:

The series will run concurrently in the four different franchises. An issue of one of the four series- Prometheus: Fire and Stone, Aliens: Fire and Stone, AVP: Fire and Stone and Predator: Fire and Stone- will be released bi-weekly for eight weeks, and the series will culminate with a special combined issue. The first issue, Prometheus: Fire and Stone No. 1, will be released on September 10.
