Strong Female Protagonist Webcomic to Be Released as a Graphic Novel

After a successful Kickstarter campaign, the critically acclaimed webcomic Strong Female Protagonist, written by Brennan Lee Mulligan and illustrated by Molly Ostertag, will be released by Top Shelf Productions as a graphic novel.

The series, which started in 2012, follows Alison Green, a teenager who once used her Superman-like powers to fight crime under the alter ego Mega Girl. But then, she decided that she wanted to help the world in more subtle ways, and gave up conventional crimefighting in favor of going to college and getting politically involved.

Top Shelf's official description is as follows:

"With super-strength and invulnerability, Alison Green used to be one of the most powerful superheroes around. Fighting crime with other teenagers under the alter ego Mega Girl was fun until an encounter with Menace, her mind reading arch enemy. He showed her evidence of a sinister conspiracy, and suddenly battling giant robots didn't seem so important. Now Alison is going to college and trying to find ways to help the world while still getting to class on time. It's impossible to escape the past, however, and everyone has their own idea of what it means to be a hero."

The graphic novel will include the first four issues, as well as bonus materials, and will come out in December.
