First Trailer for Syfy's The Expanse Featuring Thomas Jane and His Fedora
200 years into the future, people wear fedoras. Or something.
After watching the first trailer for The Expanse, we still don't know very much about it. There's some talk of humans destroying Earth, some zero gravity sex, and some amorphous "they" the characters keep referring to who live under a dome (I think?). So if they were trying to keep this show mysterious, then job well done, because this trailer does nothing to tell us what the show is about.
"Two hundred years in the future, in a fully colonized solar system, detective Josephus Miller, born in the asteroid belt, is given the assignment to find a missing heir, the young woman Juliette Andromeda Mao. Joining his task is James Holden, rogue captain of an ice-carrying freighter who remains involved in an incident caused by the tense relationship between Earth, Mars and the Belt. Soon the two will find out that the missing woman is connected to a vast conspiracy." So, that's what it's about, I guess.
The Expanse is based on the book series of the same name by Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck, who will also serve as the show's producers. The first novel, Leviathan Wakes, was published in 2011 and was nominated for Hugo and Locus Awards. The first season will be ten hourlong episodes that are set to air sometime this year.
