New Clip From Star Wars Rebels: 'Rebel Resolve' Features A Glorious Space Battle

Urgh, damn you Disney. Star Wars Rebels is just starting to gather some real steam and we now have to deal with the fact that the show's first season is coming to an end. After a stuttering start, Star Wars Rebels has started to become thoroughly entertaining as the show's creators introduce some truly meaty storylines and character development. Unfortunately, there are just 4 episodes left of Rebels' first season and with Kanan being captured by the Empire, we're preparing ourselves for a build-up to the season finale later this spring. That build-up starts on February 23rd (after another irritating 2 week break) with Rebel Resolve, and a new clip from the episode shows just how far this show has come since it premiered last year.

First off, let's just take a moment to appreciate how well animated this space battle scene is. Compared to some of the action sequences from earlier on in the season, it looks like Dave Filoni and his team have really stepped up their game. The fire and laser effects looked particularly stunning, especially when we see Chopper (so often the source of my ire when watching the show) fire up his boosters after taking out a squad of Stormtroopers.

So why are the rebels attacking an Imperial ship, anyway? As I mentioned earlier, in 'Call to Action' Kanan found himself captured by the Empire as he and Ezra attempted to send out an anti-Empire broadcast to rally support for their cause. In 'Rebel Resolve', Ezra ignores the advice of a secret informant and embarks on a mission to rescue his Jedi master.

Speaking of informants, if you missed it last week, an interesting rumor has started circulating as to the identity of the mysterious character known as Fulcrum. If you're curious, you candiscover Fulcrum's identity here.

Finally, if you're upset at the prospect of Star Wars Rebels' looming departing from the airwaves, you might want to cheer yourself up by booking a ticket to Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim where the world premiere of Star Wars Rebels season 2 will be aired!
