Firefly's Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk Crowdfunding Comic Con Web Series 'Con Man'
It both warms and breaks my heart how much the cast of Firefly still loves each other. Real-life friends Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk are launching a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo in an effort to be co-stars once again in their very own web series, a humorous take on the sci-fi convention circuit called Con Man.
More meta-fictional than fictional, the show would be a love letter to Comic Con artists and attendees, as well as a riff on the varied fates of the Firefly cast:
Wray Nerely (Alan Tudyk-Me!) was a costar on Spectrum, a sci-fi series which was canceled -Too Soon- yet became a cult classic. Wray's good friend, Jack Moore (Nathan Fillion) starred in the series and has gone on to become a major movie star. While Jack enjoys the life of an A-lister, Wray tours the sci-fi circuit as a guest of conventions, comic book stores, and lots of pop culture events. The show will feature all the weird and crazy things that happen to Wray along the way to at these events these events.
Tudyk will write, direct, and star, while Fillion will produce and star. And in case there was any doubt that this is a Whedonite's dream, Sean Maher, Gina Torres, James Gunn, Seth Green, Felicia Day, and Amy Acker will all co-star as well.
Tudyk said of the project, "I wanted to make a show that featured all of my favorite convention artists and friends together. Not only that, I wanted to celebrate the world where heroes, villains, zombie hunters, and space pirates all overlap. I especially wanted to work with my friend Nathan Fillion again." Aw.
Donate now to help make this heart-warming passion project happen! The contributor prizes are adorable all the way through, from the $5 gif of Fillion and Tudyk sharing an "awesome high five" to the $10,000 producer credit, lunch with Tudyk, and opportunity to be an extra on the show.
