Glenn Close and Gemma Arterton to Star in Adaptation of M.R McCarey's Zombie Novel, The Girl With All the Gifts
You may read this headline and think, "not another zombie" movie, but M.R. Carey's 'The Girl With All the Gifts' is not like most other titles in this genre. Just as you would expect from a man who is known for comics such as Lucifer, Hellblazer, and X-Men: Legacy, Carey's 'The Girl With All the Gifts' is incredibly dark even for a post-apocalyptic tale, and anyone who has read it will immediately recognize its potential for a big screen adaptation. Peaky Blinders director, Colm McCarthy, is taking on that adaptation, which has been titled She Who Brings Gifts and it has been announced that Glenn Close, Gemma Arterton and Paddy Considine have all joined the project, adding some serious acting talent to an already exciting project.

Set in a dystopian U.K, Carey's story follows Melanie, a gifted young girl who attends a school in an underground bunker. What makes Melanie and her classmates so special is not that they are infected with a fungus which has wiped out most of humanity, but that they have managed to maintain their mental control despite their infection. Others who suffered from the infection are referred to as 'Hungries' for their insatiable desire to feast on human flesh, while the remaining small pockets of humanity sheltering in underground compounds, desperately trying to figure out how to defeat this brutal outbreak. If you're not convinced by the brilliance of Carey's story, just check out a sample of the praise it received when it was released last year:
