Neill Blomkamp's Alien Movie Tweaked to Work in Harmony With Prometheus 2
It's a strange time to be a fan of Ridley Scott's Alien franchise. After having to wait years for a new movie installment, two are coming along in quick succession. Neill Blomkamp's Alien movie may be stealing some buzz from the planned sequel to Prometheus, but according to the South African director, the two movies will be working in complete harmony with each other when it comes to narrative. In an interview with Empire, Blomkamp revealed that, that harmony did mean a small tweak to his original story at the request of Alien creator, Ridley Scott.

"I changed the one thing [Scott] felt was bumping 'Prometheus' a little bit," said Blomkamp who goes on to say that he's feeling pretty good about Scott's involvement. "One thing that makes me feel good about it is that Ridley is producing it. He likes the idea of what I want to make."

Blomkamp had previously caused quite a stir when he appeared to suggest that his Alien movie would ignore Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection, but he was later forced to clarify his statement, revealing that he simply meant he wanted his movie to be more similar in tone to Alien and Aliens. Now it would seem that with Ridley Scott serving as a producer on the project,  'Alien 5' will not, as Blomkamp put it "tread on the toes" of anything that unfolds in Prometheus 2, which is slated for a 2016 release.

Blomkamp's Alien movie will see Sigourney Weaver reprise her role as Ripley, while other members of the original cast, including Michael Biehn, are also rumored to be returning for the movie, which is expected to hit theaters some time in 2017.
