The Russo Brothers to Direct Avengers: Infinity War
After months of speculation, the Russo brothers are reportedly confirmed to direct Avengers: Infinity War. Badass Digest reports that the duo will "definitely" follow up their successful run at Captain America: Winter Soldier with both Avengers sequels, replacing Avengers and Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon.

"The deal is done," wrote Badass Digest's Devin Faraci. "Expect an announcement soon."

The rumors that the Russo brothers would replace Joss Whedon for Infinity War were first reported in November, and Whedon confirmed that he wouldn't direct the sequels in late January.

Although I'm a huge Whedonite, I'm extremely happy about this development. Whedon should get back to doing original content, and the Russo brothers are more than qualified to take the reins. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is widely considered to be Marvel's best film so far, aside from maybe Guardians of the Galaxy, and was certainly among the most critically acclaimed. It's also the first Marvel film to attempt to err on the more serious side, and the Russo brothers toed the line between Marvel's trademark lightheartedness and the gravitas required to explore bigger ideas beautifully.

Badass Digest also claimed that, while there are no writers attached for the films yet, Marvel is currently in talks with Christopher Markus and Stephen Feely, who have worked on all three Captain America films, Thor: The Dark World, and Agent Carter.

Avengers: Infinity War part 1 comes out in May 2018, while part 2 comes out in May 2019.
