Confirmed - The X-Files Will Return for a Special 6-Part Mini Series this Summer
It's official, The X-Files is returning to our screens after a 13 year absence. Fox announced today that Mulder and Scully will return for a special 6-part limited series, which is expected to air at some time in the summer of 2015. After a 13 year wait, it's a little crazy that this is all happening so fast, but who am I to complain? This is great news!

"We had the privilege of working with Chris [Carter] on all nine seasons of 'The X-Files' - one of the most rewarding creative experiences of our careers - and we couldn't be more excited to explore that incredible world with him again," said Fox Television Charimen Gary Newman and Dana Walden. "'The X-Files' was not only a seminal show for both the studio and the network, it was a worldwide phenomenon that shaped pop culture – yet remained a true gem for the legions of fans who embraced it from the beginning. Few shows on television have drawn such dedicated fans as 'The X-Files,' and we're ecstatic to give them the next thrilling chapter of Mulder and Scully they've been waiting for."

X-Files creator, Chris Carter, was also on hand to give his two cents on the return of everyone's favorite believer/sceptic team.

"I think of it as a 13-year commercial break," said Carter. "The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories."

Details on the stories being told in this new series will be kept a closely-guarded secret, but luckily for fans there's just a matter of months to wait before we find out what's in store as Fox looks to use the show's return to prop up their summer line-up.

The X-Files first came to our screens all the way back in 1993 and went on to captivate its audience for 9 seasons, spawning 2 movie spin-offs in the process. Starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, the show went on to win a host of awards, including 16 Emmys and 5 Golden Globes.
