Live-Action Star Wars Television Show in the Works?
We already have Star Wars: Rebels on the air and a rebooted movie franchise starting at the end of this year, but let's face it, people can never get enough of Star Wars. Now, an old rumor is circling back that Disney is plotting a live-action television show that will take place in the Star Wars universe.

The report comes from Making Star Wars, who claims that an inside source "mentioned that a television series based in the Star Wars universe like Marvel's Agents of Shield is ramping up a bit. I assume they don't mean the premise is like Agents of Shield."

This rumor doesn't come out of nowhere, as there were substantiated reports back in 2013 that a TV show was in the works that wouldn't follow the same characters as the film franchise, but would exist somewhat adjacent to it, like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Back then, ABC president Paul Lee told EW that they were looking at the project: "We got to a point here with Marvel, a very special point, where we're in the Marvel universe, and very relevantly so, but we're not doing The Avengers. But S.H.I.E.L.D. is part of The Avengers. So maybe something oblique is the way to [approach the Star Wars universe] rather than going straight head-on at it."

The 2013 television show, if it is the same one, would have followed rival families competing for the seedy underbelly of the Star Wars universe, with a bounty hunter as the main character. This would make some sense, as there were rumors that the first spin-off film would follow Boba Fett and the bounty hunter world within the Star Wars universe. But as of now, these are just rumors on top of rumors, and we'll have to wait and see if anything substantial comes of it.
