Idris Elba in Negotiations to Play Star Trek 3 Villain
Luther star and Marvel player Idris Elba is reportedly in early negotiations to play the primary antagonist in Star Trek 3. The details of Elba's role are being kept under wraps, but we can speculate to our hearts' content.

Variety reports that Elba is "in talks" with the studio, and that early rumors suggest the main villain of the film will be Klingons. So there's a chance that Elba could be playing their leader, but nothing has been substantiated yet. But no matter who he's playing, let's just hope that the talented actor can inject some life into the rebooted Star Trek series, which has been aggressively mediocre thus far.

Justin Lin will be directing the sequel, taking over from J.J. Abrams, and Star Trek: Into Darkness stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, and Anton Yelchin are all set to return. Pegg will also be co-writing the script with Doug Jung, and Abrams will stay on to produce.

Star Trek 3 is expected to hit theaters sometime in 2016.
