This Video Will Give You a New Appreciation for Interstellar's Robots, TARS and CASE
One of the greatest aspects of Christopher Nolan's Interstellar was it's mind-blowing visuals. From Gargantua, the movie's giant black hole, to the sweeping shots depicting alien planets, Interstellar contained so much visual gorgeousness you need to see it at least twice to take it all in. Much of this visual feast was down to some painstakingly crafted CGI, but contrary to popular belief, not all of Interstellar's VFX were created on a computer. TARS, the witty monolith robot companion to Matthew McConaughey's team of astronauts was one of my favorite things about the movies, and I was shocked when I learnt that he wasn't created digitally and was, instead, a brilliant piece of physical effects work.

This behind-the-scenes footage from Interstellar's home entertainment release shows just how much work went into creating the robotic TARS and CASE, and if you're anything like me, it will make you fall even deeper in love with what will likely be remembered as one of the most iconic robots Hollywood has ever produced.

Now, go re-watch those Interstellar scenes containing TARS and his robotic chums and appreciate them on a whole new level.
