Game of Thrones's Maisie Williams Joins Cast of Doctor Who
Game of Thrones is meeting Doctor Who. The BBC announced today that Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark on HBO's Game of Thrones, is joining the Doctor Who team as a guest star for Season 9.

Stephen Moffatt, Doctor Who's Executive Producer, gave little away regarding Williams' role on the show, but as you would expect, he's delighted to have an actress of her calibre joining the cast.

"We're thrilled to have Maisie Williams joining us on Doctor Who," said Moffatt. "It's not possible to say too much about who or what she's playing, but she is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways. This time he might just be out of his depth, and we know Maisie is going to give him exactly the right sort of hell."

So, does that mean Maisie Williams is going to be playing a Doctor Who villain? Please tell us that means Maisie Williams is going to be playing a Doctor Who villain! Watching Williams as the plucky Arya Stark on Game of Thrones has been a real treat over the years, but to see her turn that mischievous disposition into something villainous would be pure joy. In fact, I think I would actually prefer to see her as a recurring villain than a companion!

Other guest stars for season 9 include Rufus Hound, Tom Stourton, Ariyon Bakare, Simon Lipkin, and Ian Conningham. Doctor Who season 9 will air on BBC America this fall.
