Wondercon 2015: Gotham Writer Previews DC Comics Villains Coming in Season Two
We may insist that Gotham is overstuffed with villains, but it's still pretty exciting when we find out more baby DC villains are on their way. Today, at Gotham's WonderCon panel, writer John Stephens announced (read: spoiled) that the Batman prequel will depict Clayface, Mad Hatter, and possibly Victor Freeze and/or the Court of Owls.

During the audience Q&A, Stephens was first asked his "wishlist" of villains for season two, and he limited his list to Victor Freeze, as he wanted to add a "more sci-fi villain" to the mix. Then, when asked whether villains such as Clayface and Mad Hatter would make an appearance, he stated that both "are characters we'll be bringing in."

Stephens also teased the possible appearance of the infamous Court of Owls. He stopped short of confirming that they'll appear, but he told the audience that there is "clearly" a contingent of powerful, nefarious people who control the criminal enterprises of Gotham, and that the idea has been thrown around in the writers' room many times. He stated that the writers "keep coming really close, but still haven't pulled the trigger. In conjunction with executive producer Danny Cannon's comments at New York Comic Con that they would include the Court of Owls "if DC Comics lets [them]," it seems that the plotline is at least in the works.

Gotham returns for its final four episodes on April 13th. Read our preview of the next episode, "Beasts of Prey," here.
