The First Reactions to Avengers: Age of Ultron Are Here - And They're Raves
The first 140-character reviews of Avengers: Age of Ultron are here, and apparently the hugely hyped film doesn't disappoint. Critics overwhelmingly agree that Age of Ultron is at turns dark and hilarious, well-acted, cohesive, exciting, emotional, and even better than the first Avengers.

Marvel/Joss Whedon's done it again

It's darker, more emotional, and overall better than first Avengers

There was an overwhelming consensus that Age of Ultron was more substantive than the first Avengers, and most agreed that that was a good thing (and I predict that I will agree, as I thought the first was frustratingly slight):

Although there were a few who were disappointed by the shift in tone:

But apparently, it's still really funny, so oh well:

It's actually cohesive

My main concern for Avengers: Age of Ultron was that even the inestimable powers of Joss Whedon wouldn't be able to create a cohesive narrative with the demands of so many characters, but apparently he can really do no wrong:

There's a surprise MVP

I know there was a hilarious Hawkeye joke in that new TV spot, but somehow this still comes as a surprise:

But really, everyone is great

Better than the trailers?

The trailers looked pretty good to us, but apparently they did not prepare us for what's coming:

It's true to the comics

Too much Marvel

I've only seen one truly negative review so far, from a critic who thought there were too many in-universe tie-ins and was dissatisfied with Aaron Taylor-Johnson's performance as Quicksilver.
