Saw and Furious 7 Director in Talks to Helm Aquaman
Furious 7 director James Wan may be joining another major franchise. According to THR, Wan is in "preliminary talks" to helm the standalone DC Comics film.

There is no official offer on the table, but Wan is reportedly the studio's first choice to direct the film. In this movie climate, becoming part of a superhero franchise a great opportunity for any director, so in all likelihood the success of the negotiations will mostly depend on Wan's potential involvement with a Furious 7 sequel. The film has no release date and seems to be on the backburner for now, but technically Wan is still contractually obligated and Universal could exercise that option.

In addition to Furious 7, which has been getting shockingly great reviews for the seventh film in an already silly series, Wan is known for directing the first (and best) Saw movie, as well as helming the critically acclaimed horror franchises Insidious and The Conjuring. Wan is also set to direct the sequel to The Conjuring, subtitled The Enfield Poltergeist, which shoots this fall.

Aquaman will star Jason Momoa as the titular superhero, who will make his first appearance in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and will also appear in any Justice League films. Two separate scripts are currently being written by Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad, and the film is set to be released sometime in 2018.
