Fan Favorite Character Departing Arrow Next Season
Last night's episode of Arrow was widely considered a return to form. After a slightly unfocused season, "Broken Arrow" featured amazing fight sequences, lots of references to the comics, plenty of pathos, and most importantly, the departure of a beloved character who's been on Team Arrow since the first season.

Major spoilers from the latest episode of Arrow follow!

In "Broken Arrow," fan favorite Roy Harper is stabbed and apparently killed. As it often happens in the Arrow universe, it turns out that he's not actually dead, he's just faked his death in order to allow Oliver to continue being the Arrow without worrying about his secret being revealed. But unfortunately, as the character will stay effectively "dead" for the time being, series regular Colton Haynes will not return to the show next season, although he'll make a guest appearance later this season to wrap up his character's arc.

"Colton will not be returning to the show as a series regular in Season 4, but will appear in one additional episode this season," a Warner Bros. rep told THR. "Like all characters that exist in this universe, there will always be the potential for him [to] return moving forward."

Roy first appeared on Arrow in the fifteenth episode of the first season, and then was upgraded to series regular in season two. He was well-loved by fans, so there's always the possibility that his character will return. Characters on comic book shows tend to come back, even when they're actually dead, so Arsenal fans should keep hope alive.

Arrow airs at 8 pm on Wednesdays on The CW.
