Star Wars Battlefront is Revealed at Star Wars Celebration, November 17th Release Date Set
Star Wars Celebration, Anaheim. One of the most hotly-anticipated events of this packed weekend has been the revealing of EA and DICE's new Star Wars Battlefront game. In front of thousands of fans who packed into Star Wars Celebration's digital stage, DICE revealed a series of exciting details about the product, none of which will please fans more than the fact that the game has finally been given a release date, subsequently confirming that the long, long wait for a new Star Wars Battlefront game will be over soon. As had been rumored by many, Star Wars Battlefront will hit stores on November 17th, just in time to capitalize on the busy Christmas period which will be dominated by anticipation of LucasFilm's Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

"You can storm in as the Dark Lord himself," said Battlefront's design director Niklas Fegraeus at an earlier press junket. "You can wield a lightsaber. You can Force choke the rebel scum, which is fun. Basically, you are the boss of the battle. This means that you, as Vader, can lead your team to victory - if you play well."

As well as being able to play as some of Star Wars's most famous characters, Battlefront will also allow you to take control of some of the saga's most iconic vehicles. Throughout the huge array of battles, players will able to hop into everything from TIE Fighters, to speeder bikes to X-Wings, and will even give you the chance to pilot one of the Empire's giant AT-ATs!

There will also be a number of Easter Eggs available for those looking to puzzle out clues about Star Wars: The Force Awakens. A free downloadable expansion will be available a couple of weeks after the game's release, and it will shed light on the battle that occurred on the desert planet of Jakku, which we just saw on the new Force Awakens Trailer. The downloadable level will let players witness first hand the Battle of Jakku, which occurs immediately after the events of Return of the Jedi when the New Republic begun hunting down the last remaining strongholds of Palpatine's Imperial forces.

So, after a great deal of anticipation, it would appear that Star Wars Battlefront is going to be well, well worth the wait. And, if Battlefront ends up being every bit as good as it looks, there's more good news for Star Wars gamers, because this will be the first game in what is a huge 10-year deal between Disney's LucasFilm and EA, which means there are a lot more Star Wars games on the horizon.
