First Image of Kodi-Smit McPhee as Nightcrawler in X-Men: Apocalypse
Today is the first day of filming for X-Men: Apocalypse, so director Bryan Singer decided to cruelly tease a motion poster of Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler before promptly taking it down.

The motion poster is no longer on Singer's Instagram, but you can still watch it here, we've also placed a slightly lightened version of the image below, so you can really see what's going on:

It seems to be concept art rather than an actual set photo of Smit-McPhee, but it still shows all the hallmarks of a very young and different Nightcrawler than we saw in the original X-Men movies. Smit-McPhee is part of a whole new roster of young X-Men, including Game of Thrones's Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Mud's Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, and Alexandra Shipp as Storm. They will presumably serve to replace the imminently departing Jennifer Lawrence, and possible other X-Men: First Class alums like Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, and Nicholas Hoult, who will all have the option not to renew their contracts.

X-Men: Apocalypse, which also stars Oscar Isaac, Ian McKellen, Evan Peters, Rose Byrne, and Olivia Munn, comes out on May 27, 2016.
